Description
Overview
Chime, The National Charity for Deafness and Hearing Loss, welcomes you and your family to a transformative weekend designed for families who have recently received a hearing loss diagnosis for their child.
This event is scheduled from 27th Feb to 1st March 2026 at the Midlands Park Hotel in Portlaoise Town, Laois.
About the event:
We understand that learning that your child has a hearing loss can be overwhelming. We're here to help you with hearing loss, audiology, communication skills, and your child's development.
Event Highlights:
Chime Newly Diagnosed Weekend is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to gain all of the information you want under one roof. It's also an opportunity to meet other families who are going through the same thing. Our comprehensive workshops will address vital issues such as communication development, hearing aid care, and using assistive technology at school and at home.
Our Goal:
Our primary goal is to create a supportive and confidential space where families can freely share their experiences. Throughout the weekend, you'll have the chance to engage with our team of experts and other families in a relaxed and social atmosphere. While parents participate in the workshops, a dedicated professional childcare service will be available.
Childcare Services:
Childcare services are available on the hotel grounds for children aged 4 months to 12 years. Catkins on the Move, a recognised and fully compliant childcare provider following HSE and TUSLA rules, provides several services.
Registration and Details:
Available spaces for the event is managed on the Eventbrite link below so please register on this first and only then make the payment using this link.
